Heading east from Millers Dale Station. The surface of the track is hard and compact but can be quite stony in places (see Pic. 1 below, with wheelchair wheel in view). This section is mainly tree lined but where there are gaps in the trees, there are benches to rest at ¾, 1 and 1¼ miles, giving good views of the surrounding countryside. (Pic. 2 below shows bench at side of the track). The final ¼ of a mile becomes rougher and grassier, before reaching the closed tunnel at 1½ miles.
