Visitor Centre parking & toilet facilities
The large tarmac car park, free to blue badge holders, has 2 designated spaces for people with disabilities.
There is a nearby toilet block with accessible toilet (Radar operated). A loan key is available from the visitor centre during opening hours.
A large block paved area surrounds the visitor centre (see pic. opposite), with access to several picnic tables.
There is level access into the visitor centre, where a selection of hot and cold food and drinks can be purchased.
The visitor centre has free hire of electric scooters. Donations towards the upkeep of the scooters are welcome. For further details and bookings, telephone 01543 871773. The use of the scooters are restricted to the “blue route”.
The Blue Route
It is recommended to follow the blue route which is reasonably flat and level, following the roads of the old army camp (now little evidence of it’s existence). There are marked signs around the route and it is advised not to venture from the marked route due to the huge amount of pathways across and through the chase.
I personally tried the various other routes starting at Marquis Drive visitor centre but found them unsuitable for a wheelchair user due to the undulating terrain which can be very steep, rough and muddy in many places.
