Location, parking and toilet facilities
Tideswell Dale is situated 1½ miles south of the centre of Tideswell off the B6049. There is a large car park, uneven in places. Pay & Display parking is free to blue badge holders. There are two parking spaces designated for people with disabilities. These are located at the far end of the car park on the right hand side and close to the start of the track. See picture opposite.
There is an accessible toilet at the rear of the stone building (Radar key required).
There are two picnic tables accessible to wheelchair users, adjacent to the track/ car park.
The track is a one mile circular route through the dale and is very picturesque. There are several benches along the route which has large wooden carvings through the dale.
The outgoing half of the circuit is downhill. The first ¼ of a mile is tarmac, giving a fairly smooth surface. The path then divides to form a circular route. To the right is a wooden bridge which has a one inch step off and the left fork has a slope down to the hard compacted surface.
Half way round the circuit is another bridge which is relatively flat. Independent wheelchair users may need assistance on the return journey, especially to negotiate the small step or slope where the track divides.
Note: Where the path divides, taking the route in an anticlockwise direction may be slightly easier - step off the bridge. If the route is taken in a clockwise direction then the step would need to be negotiated on an upward slope.
